TAKE A STAND-READYMADE

"Take A Stand: An interactive ready-made between automation and intelligence."

Take A Stand is an interactive, immersive, and interdisciplinary installation.

Description of the Take A Stand installation:

It consists of:

  1. A ready-made treadmill connected to the PacMan video, both rendered interdependent and interactive.

  2. A sculpture made of recycled materials.

  3. A sound station with two phones containing intimate voice exchanges, a travel book, and personal poems.

  4. A short film made in Paris and filmed in Beirut, Lebanon in 2022.

  5. Until It Stops: Throughout the installation, a looped projection runs on a wall counting numbers up to 85,000 and recounting the official number of victims of wars in the Middle East since October 7, 2023.

The video is projected on a blank wall and unfolds in silence. This montage revolves around a desire for information.

While we "experience the exhibition", the numbers continue to scroll.

Thus, the interactive installation is fixed in the moment lived." Sara Daher

On the centerpiece, the Ready Made treadmill, an screen is positioned on which this video game runs. The video interacts with the treadmill and is dependent on it.

Sound Pole:

« A high table offering two telephones and headphones that play voice exchanges.

On this table, we also find a travel book containing personal works: photographs from a trip across post-2020 Lebanon and poems extracted from my collection Dreams and an Essay. These poems are of the graphic illustration type and/or simple writings on A4.

My short film 7elwa Ya Baladi is shown on this same installation table, on the screen of a tablet.

This film follows a motorcycle journey through hedonistic Beirut nights and recounts the simultaneous joy and violence experienced by Lebanese youth, which has intensified since the economic and socio-political crisis in 2019. War is ugly, but life is not. It is in a desire to remain true to the reality lived by Lebanese youth that the intention to integrate my short film into the installation pole exists. »

“Interaction with the artwork becomes a way of perceiving a reinvented world where the spectator, far from being passive, becomes a co-creator of the artwork.”
